- American Family Immigration History Center (Ellis Island) - This database provides information on 22 million immigrants and ship's crews who arrived at Ellis Island and the Port of New York between 1898 and 1924. Searchable by name, including alternate spelling, results provide date of arrival, age, marital status, ethnicity, residence, gender, ship, and port of departure. Information on each ship and ship manifests are also available. Immigrant Experience includes The Peopling of America, which covers pre-1790 to 2000 with a "timeline showing forces behind immigration and their impact on the immigrant experience." Free registration allows searches to be saved and records to be annotated.
- Bureau of Land Management - Search from over 2 million land records.
- Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System - National Parks Service website with searchable database of over 6 million servicemen, regiments, battles, etc. Contains records with basic facts on over 277,000 Indiana servicemen, and over 6 million total servicemen.
- Find a Grave - Search for graves of famous people.
- Genforum - Genealogical query forums on thousands of places and family names
- LDS Family History Centers - Family History Centers are branch facilities of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Centers provide access to most of the microfilms and microfiche in the Family History Library to help patrons identify their ancestors. Everyone is welcome to come to the centers and use Family History Center resources. Use this link to locate a FHC near you.

- National Archives Online Databases - Search several genealogy-related databases from records at the National Archives
- Social Security Death Index - The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) is a searchable database of the Death Master File (DMF) from the U.S. Social Security Administration. DMF contains over 60 million records created from SSA payment records (mostly from the mid-1960s to date) and is updated monthly. The database can contain name, social security number, date of birth, date of death, and last residence/lump sum payment information when available, and can be searched on those criteria.
