How to apply for a JCPL card

Who is eligible?
Anyone who lives, owns property, teaches or attends school in the Johnson County Public Library taxing district may get a free library card.

Areas in white represent the Johnson County Public Library taxing district. As you will notice, most - but not all - of Johnson County addresses fall within the Johnson County Public Library district. The areas in orange represents the separate library taxing districts for the cities of Greenwood and Edinburgh. Residents of these districts are not eligible for borrowing privileges from the Johnson County Public Library. However, there are other options for these residents. Click here for details.

How can I apply for a JCPL card?
To apply for a JCPL card either visit any one of the JCPL branches or download, print, and fill out a Patron Card Application and simply return it to any one of our
JCPL Branches.
Please note:
Proof of address is required when the Patron Card Application is submitted. The library accepts a valid Indiana Driver's License or ID, utility bill, personalized check, or any mail that has been received within the past 30 days.
A parent or legal guardian must sign the application for children under the age of 17. Parents or legal guardians will also have the option of giving their child permission to check out videos/DVDs and the ability to use the library's computers.
You will receive your card in the mail in approximately 7-10 days.


What is my responsibility?
Your Johnson County Public Library card is nontransferable. This means you are responsible for any materials checked out to your account, returning your library materials on time, paying any late fees, and/or replacement charges on items that are lost or damaged.
