GENERAL REVIEW SITES

  • DVD Talk: Over 50 writers and contributors who do DVD reviews, interviews, features, columns and more.
  • DVD Verdict: DVD Verdict presents unique, informative,m and thoughtful film criticism, coupled with - though never overshadowed by - an assessment of each film's DVD presentation.
  • Rotten Tomatoes: This website combs all of the movie reviews available and assigns each films a "freshness rating." If a movie is "fresh" is has over 60% positive reviews. If a movie has less than 60%, it's a "rotten tomato."
  • Video Watchdog: Reviews horror, science fiction, mystery, film noir, animation exploitation, sleaze, martial arts, fantasy, and action cinema.
FAMILY-ORIENTED REVIEW SITES
  • Family Style: Parents who are concerned about the entertainment our families are exposed to generated the movie reviews in the FamilyStyle Movie Guide. Each movie in The Movie Guide has been reviewed and the content in the areas of profanity, nudity, sex, violence, and drugs/alcohol noted. No attempt has been made in these reviews to judge the quality or artistic merit of the movies.
  • Kids-In-Mind: Movies are given 3 objective ratings for sex/nudity, violence/gore and profanity on a scale of 0 to 10. Individuals may determine whether a movie is appropriate for them or their children, according to their own criteria.
  • Parent Previews: An independent source of information on the latest movies and DVDs written especially for parents and families. The site provides clear and detailed family movie reviews that go beyond the movie ratings.
MOVIE INFORMATION
  • All Movie Guide: Similiar to the Internet Movie Database and part of the All-Media Guide Network.
  • American Film Institute (AFI) and their 100 Years, 100 Movies site.
  • Dark Horizons: Another site featuring news, rumors, and reviews regarding movies. This site does focus on Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror films but any major movie will be discussed.
  • DVD Demystified: A good FAQ for those looking for information about DVDs.
  • DVDFile.com: Virtually all aspects of the DVD format are covered. The amount of information can be overwhelming but you can usually find what you're looking for - or at least a link to it. Two cool things: a calendar of upcoming releases and a listing of all titles avaiailable and their various states of development.
  • Film Indiana: Covers the media industry in Indiana includes lists of movies filmed in Indiana, film festivals held in Indiana, and job opportunities in upcoming movie shoots in Indiana.
  • Internet Movie Database: Cast and crew data for almost any movie you can think of.
  • Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA): Details the ratings system of how ratings are assigned. Another great feature is a searchable database of movies and their ratings.
  • Movie Finder from E! Online.
  • Screen It!: Reviews movies, but this site breaks each film down into categories and describes the content in each one. Great for parents!
