Turn Off the Oven and Turn On the Flavor!

Published Tuesday, June 21, 2011 by Robin Martinez

When it’s 90 degrees outside, who wants to turn on their oven to cook dinner? The Johnson County Public Library wants to offer you a cooler alternative to the nightly roast.

Salads are a healthy and delicious way to beat the heat this summer. To help get you started on these quick and cool meals, Linda Souchon, County Extension Director for Purdue Extension, will be at our Clark Pleasant Branch to present a tasty program on Thursday, June 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

Linda will take you through selection of greens, proper cleaning and storage to get the most value out of your produce, nutritional values, and some of her favorite recipes. Participants will have an opportunity to sample some of the different types of salads.

For more information, please contact Clark Pleasant Branch Manager, Julie Bascom, at (317) 535-6206.
