I Saved a Life Today!

Blood Drive at Franklin Branch of JCPL

Published Wednesday, December 14, 2011 by Robin Martinez

Did you know that every time you donate blood you potentially save up to three people? How many times a day do you get to say you saved someone’s life? Not many if you’re like most people. Well, the Johnson County Public Library wants to give you at least one opportunity to make that claim.

“Only 3 out of 10 people donate blood,” said Johnson County Public Librarian Cindy Bergquist. With the many natural disasters we have experienced lately, the need for blood donations is higher than ever.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, JCPL will host a blood drive on Friday, December 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Appointments are recommended (though not mandatory) and you can schedule yours by calling (317) 738-9711 or by visiting www.jcplin.org

To be a blood donor you must:

be at least 17 years old (16 with signed parental consent) and in good health
Weigh a minimum of 110 pounds
Provide a photo I.D.

For more information, please contact Adult Services Librarian, Cindy Bergquist, at 738-2833.
