Winter Reading Program

Come in from the cold, as the Johnson County Public Library celebrates its eighteenth year of Winter Reading. We're challenging families to "Feed Your Mind, Read!" during the whole month of February. JCPL hopes to encourage families to read together and to visit their library branch. Each time a patron or family visits the library, each person will receive a prize and a bonus ticket, up to four times. Tickets will be a chance at winning the bonus bucket, chock full of cooking items and kitchen-inspired toys.

A new feature of Winter Reading will be the Fairy Tale Scavenger Hunt. Four characters from popular fairy tales will be hiding at each branch. Stop by the children's desk to receive the Scavenger Hunt sheet. Participate in the Scavenger Hunt and receive an extra bonus ticket.

The fun isn't over at the end of February. Each branch will host a Winter Reading Celebration during the first week of March, called "Salamanders, Lizards, and Snakes, Oh My!" Join us as Indiana Jim shows off some live reptiles and describes their favorite foods.

The parties will occur at the following times and branches:

Monday, March 4; 4:30 p.m. at the Trafalgar Branch
Monday, March 4; 6:30 p.m. at the White River Branch
Wednesday, March 6; 4:30 p.m. at the Clark Pleasant Branch
Wednesday, March 6; 6:30 p.m. at the Franklin Branch

For more information, stop by any children's Reference Desk or call your local branch.
