I Am From
I am from a place of hopes and dreams,
Right across from a firery green playground that gleams.
I am from the wind blowing pink rose petals to the unknown,
And where orange basketballs bounce to their own unique tone.
I am from a place where love dances through the halls,
Hearing "You're a goof" and "Okie dokie" bounce off the walls.
I am from a place filled with yummy, creamy cheesecake,
That tastes so well after a juicy steak.
I am from flashes of bright light,
Whispering, "Be quiet!" as we hide, playing sardines through the night.
I am from a dusty, purple stereo blaring beautiful melodies like a horn,
Set next to old books read so much, they're tattered and torn.
I am from a place where you hear,
"Shoot for the moon, if you miss you'll land among the stars," loud and clear.
I am from a place of laughter roaring through the house,
Never quite reaching the status of quiet as a mouse.
I am from a place where "every light in the house is on."
A place that I'll miss when I'm gone.
I am from a place where dreams are meant to be shown.
But, I'll always come back because "there's no place like home."
